How can we apply UX Design principles to Digital Marketing?
I recently completed a LinkedIn course on Digital Marketing Foundations by Brad Batesole. In this course, Brad provides an overview of digital marketing and the different platforms to advertise your business in the virtual space.
As a UX/UI Designer, I design various digital marketing platforms such as landing pages, email marketing, and mobile applications. To create a successful product, it’s essential to have a clear understanding of both user needs & business goals and know the key visual components of each type of digital marketing design.
So with that, I’d like to highlight some of the key takeaways from this course and discuss how we can apply them to our UX/UI practices. Please share your thoughts as well in the comments below!
📱 Responsive Design: The majority of consumers interact with digital marketing on their mobile devices, whether it’s in an email, social media, or landing page. Designing with a mobile-first approach is a common theme I’ve seen throughout my career as a designer.
🔎 SEO: The goal of digital marketing is to attract customers and make sales. But how can you do that when nobody can find your business? When it comes to UX Writing, it’s important to make sure that your content is clear, concise, and optimized for search engines like Google, Pinterest, TikTok, and more!
👀 User Interface: When you open up an email from your favorite store, what do you expect to see? What do you expect to do? What do you think the business is trying to achieve? When designing digital marketing platforms, it’s important to know what both the user and business want to accomplish so you can add the right visual elements to your design. To promote conversion, make sure that your buttons and Call to Actions (CTAs) align with your marketing funnel. To establish familiarity, ensure that you implement your brand style guide across all platforms.
These elements contribute to a great user experience and a successful digital marketing campaign. Think about other ways these two disciplines work together to achieve user and business goals!
